He is daring and intelligent, both in terms of survival skills and emotional intelligence as he reads the habits and quirks of Peter’s character, but he is also somewhat of a father figure to the rest of the boys. Lost Boy is the tale of the first true lost boy to join Peter’s band of boys – Jamie. This time I had to purchase it and eventually experience an odd mix of emotions as Peter Pan was revealed to be the true villain of Neverland.
Though Christina Henry is brilliant, her novels aren’t a common sight in the South African bookshops I frequent. As fate would have it, I never purchased it but half a year later I happened on the book again, in a completely different bookshop.
So when I spotted the title Lost Boy the first time, I was instantly intrigued. Peter Pan has always been a personal childhood favourite of mine.
